Breast Augmentation Costs

Probably the most unpleasant part of the breast enhancement discussion is the price. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons recorded breast augmentation costs (on average) at just over $3,000 in 2003. Take note when price hunting, however- this is only the doctor’s fee. You also have the hospital/clinic fee, anesthesia fee, etc. The extra fees add up quickly and will probably come close to doubling your cost, bringing a $3,000 quote to a $5,000 or $6,000 bill.

You may find during your research process that different surgeons offer different prices. While you do need to keep an eye out for “too good to be true” bargains, price is not the only indicator of quality. As with all products and services, the area of the country has a great impact on prices. Breast augmentation prices are no different. For instance, surgeon practicing in the Midwest may offer the best services in the nation and only charge $3,000. However, a doctor in New York offering a breast augmentation price of $3,000 may not be quite as qualified. Always verify your surgeon’s certifications and review photographs of his past work.

In most cases, your medical insurance will probably not cover a purely cosmetic surgery. However, if you are receiving breast implants for reconstructive purposes following a mastectomy or injury, there may be coverage for you. Check with your insurance provider before taking further steps to financially prepare; it never hurts to ask.

Breast augmentation process may seem daunting, but you may be able to work out a payment plan with your doctor or he may refer you to a finance company that could help you breast augmentation financing.
